Enjoying the Pace

Picking the Spin from the Rough – stuff well worth reading

A selection of items I’ve recently come across I think you might enjoy.

Mitchell Johnson’s shellacking of South Africa in the 1st Test Match excited former fast bowling great, Michael Holding who is covering the series as a commentator. His assessments were featured by Daniel Brettig on ESPN Cricinfo. ‘Whispering Death’ is also the subject of a nice profile by Abhishek Mukherjee on Cricket Country.

Staying with Cricket Country, the latest in its series of pleasing profiles have featured portraits of the following: Darren Bravo, Cameron Cuffy, Fidel Edwards, Ellis Achong and Ryan Hinds.

Meanwhile, Ryan’s namesake, Wavell is interviewed by Michelle McDonald on the Caribbean Cricket website.

Back on Cricinfo, V Ramnayaran recalls Sunil Gavaskar’s debut series v the West Indies in 1971; and in the Barbados Nation, Harold Eastmond looks back at the career of the soon-to-retire, Floyd Reifer.

And finally, a Blue Plaque was erected back in December to commerorate Sir Learie Constantine, and Kensington & Chelsea Today has profiled the great man.
