The last blog on RBH before the hiatus was to promote the most recent audio interviews by the excellent Subash Jayaraman on his Couch Talk series. Well, that plug led him to get in touch, introduce himself and thank me, and, long story short, five months later he and his lovely wife, Kathleen were guests of myself and my wife here in Barbados as Mr & Mrs Couch undertook phase 2 of their Cricket World Tour.

It was great having them with us for seven days (fortuitously the week of the Barbados leg of the CPL), and we took in the sights, sounds and smells(!) of Caribbean cricket. The ‘Couchs’ have been keeping an online record of their travels, and you can catch up with their adventures and follow their journey here and here. Kathleen is also blogging for Wisden India here.

Despite being on the road, Subash has kept his Couch running (it must be on coasters), and from Barbados he interviewed Australia’s physio, Alex Kountouris and West Indies’ legendary opener, Gordon Greenidge. Look out for future interviews featuring commentator, Jim Maxwell and Essex, England and the Daily Telegraph’s Derek Pringle. Also recommended from Subash’s back catalogue are chats with Colin Croft, Curtly Ambrose, RBH’s good friend former Test umpire, John Holder, and our very own Roland Butcher!

Roland also recently appeared on an edition of ‘Line & Length’  the Caribbean’s weekly magazine cricket programme hosted by Barry Wilkinson. Meanwhile, back in May, I featured prominently alongside Barbados’ Leader of the Opposition, Mia Mottley – she was filmed talking about WI cricket when she joined us on ‘Mason & Guests’. I also managed to sneak my face into the national newspaper!
