Learie, Leverock and Lineker

Picking the Spin from the Rough – stuff well worth reading

A selection of items I’ve recently come across I think you might enjoy.

A few articles of a Caribbean flavour have appeared recently which are a rewarding read: a nice feature from All Out Cricket on the great bowling pair of Roberts & Holding; an appreciation from The Guardian of some of cricket’s finest fielders, beginning with Learie Constantine; Arunabha Sengupta lists ’12 little-known facts about Garry Sobers’; an assessment of West Indies’ latest Test playing 40-year old, Shiv Chanderpaul by Mike King; a glowing pen-picture of Chris Gayle by Roger Sawh; a less-flattering portrait of him by Oliver Brown; recollections of Bermuda’s Dwayne Leverock by Abhishek Mukherjee; and the story of how Gary Lineker and Roland Butcher beat Germany.
