BREAKING NEWS

The BCCI has put in a claim of USD$42m to the WICB, with a 15-day deadline to respond or face court action.

ANDREW MASON, the Caribbean’s leading cricket commentator, and host of the weekly talk show, Mason & Guests has got hold of that letter – which I reproduce here, without further comment, for the international cricket community’s consumption:

What becomes very apparent in the early part of the letter is how unspeakably remiss the WICB was in not sending some across post-haste to India as soon as the rumbles of discontent started. Instead they seem to have left it up to the BCCI to do the WICB’s job of persuading the players to keep going.

I do take your point about the mess being ultimately the players’ fault, but at the same time it has to be faced that the WICB was at the very least guilty of quite execrable man-management!

I’ve read the link posted by Dennis and it is pure rubbish.

For example,he claims that WICB can invoke “force majeure” clause covering strikes and industrial action in this case.

For his and your information, it is not a “strike” if you weren’t under contract to do the job in the first place.

The BCCI has the WICB by the short hairs here. Legally and financially. And no amount of wishful thinking bordering on parody is going to change that.
