Around the World in 2 – a few occasional off-breaks

Each week for Mason & Guests I compile and broadcast a brief summary of cricket events outside the Caribbean, with a few “Did You Know, Andrew?” facts thrown in. Here’s this week’s round-up:

In the 3rd game last night, Eng thrashed India by 9 wkts with Steven Finn taking 5-33. The teams all play each other once more before the Final on Sun Feb 1st.

“NZ are 2-1 up after 4 games in their 7-match series with SL. The 5th match is on Fri.

Around the World in 2 – a few occasional off-breaks

“SL need 390 to win the 2nd Test v NZ & square the series. Kumar Sangakkara passed 12,000 runs in his 203 which helped the tourists to a 135-run 1st-inngs lead. It was his 38th Test hundred & 11th Test double hundred. But Kane Williamson with 242no & BJ Watling with 142no added an unbroken 365 – the highest 6th wkt partnership in Test history, surpassing the 352 Watling added with Brendon McCullum v India last Feb. NZ declared at 524-5 & SL were 45-1 at the close.

“In the 4th & final Test v India at Sydney, Aus made 348-2 on Day 1, with David Warner making 101 – his 12th Test ton, & 9th in 14 Tests since the start of last year’s Ashes. Did You Know, Andrew that in that period Warner’s scored 1,728 runs at 66.46?  Continue reading
