The Caribbean cricket podcast
Welcome to this special edition of The Willow in the WIndies.
Following the suspension of West Indies coach Phil Simmons for speaking out against the selection process, I caught up with Colin Benjamin to discuss the latest WIndies crisis.
Colin is a main sports writer for the T&T Newsday in Trinidad and a regular contributor to ESPN Cricinfo. You can find him on Twitter as Colin Benjamin @Footycric.
We talked about the issues around the suspension; the suspicions of WICB victimisation of particular players; the perceived sense of animosity of the Board towards T&T in general; the recent fractious town-hall meeting on the island in which WICB President Dave Cameron fielded a string of searching questions; the spate of recent mystifying selections by Clive Lloyd and his panel; and whether clarity on the whole issue surrounding the non-selection of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard for the ODI side should have been previously provided by Director of Cricket Richard Pybus.
